Digital X-Rays in Audubon, NJ

digital x-rays in audubon nj

Dental x-rays are an essential diagnostic and preventive tool because they allow us to view highly detailed images of your teeth, bone, and surrounding soft tissue.

Digital x-rays allow us to see cavities clearly when they are very small and also identify bone loss, a problem that can’t be seen during a visual exam. Using this information, our doctors can address problems in their early stages while they are relatively small and easy to treat.

But many patients today have concerns about how much radiation they’re exposed to during x-rays. At Train Station Dental, we put the safety and comfort of our patients first by investing in state-of-the-art digital x-rays that provide the most accurate diagnosis and minimize exposure by as much as 75 percent.

Digital X-Rays: Harnessing Modern Technology for Safe, Accurate Diagnoses

Digital x-rays provide safer, more precise oral health evaluations, enabling early detection and tailored treatment.

Low Radiation

Advanced digital x-ray technology reduces radiation by up to 90 percent compared to traditional x-rays.

Immediate Results

Digital x-rays provide instant, high-resolution results, allowing for faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Optimal Accuracy

Clear, precise images help your dentist detect cavities, bone loss, and other issues that are not visible to the naked eye.

Frequently Asked Questions

X-rays are a crucial part of dental care. By providing dentists with a view of corners of the patient’s mouth that would otherwise be hidden, x-rays play a huge role in maintaining optimal oral health.

Digital x-rays are a modern advancement that allows for these images to be captured more efficiently and safely. Digital x-rays capture detailed, high-resolution images of teeth, gums, jawbone, and their surrounding structures. Digital x-rays help dental professionals more quickly and precisely detect cavities, impacted teeth, and other issues.

What sets digital x-rays apart is that they do all of this while exposing patients to far less radiation than traditional, film-based x-rays. This all ensures not only patient safety but allows for faster image processing, reduces the patient’s time in the chair, and facilitates quicker, more efficient treatment.

The Digital X-Ray Process

During the digital x-ray process, x-ray images that are captured are immediately transmitted to a computer, where a dentist can zoom in, rotate, and enhance specific aspects of the images. This results in more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans.

How Digital X-Rays are Used

When we take a digital x-ray, instead of the traditional film you hold between your teeth, we use flat, comfortable electronic sensors. The sensors produce highly detailed images that are stored securely on our in-house network.

In just a few moments, we can both look at the images together as they are displayed on your chairside monitor. You become an active part of your treatment because your doctor can point out the problem so you can understand the need for treatment.

Digital x-rays help us:

  • Monitor your oral health
  • Detect decay and periodontal infections
  • Check the health of your jaw bone
  • Examine your tooth roots

dental x-rays in audubon njFor patients who have past dental conditions, we usually recommend bitewing x-rays that show upper and lower back teeth once a year. Otherwise, we take a full set of routine x-rays every five years, again, depending on your needs.

Panoramic Digital X-Rays

In addition to routine digital x-rays, we also have a panoramic x-ray unit that takes extra-oral (outside the mouth) x-rays. As you stand in place, the camera rotates around your head and takes pictures of your entire mouth in one image.

Using a panoramic x-ray allows our doctors to see your teeth and all supporting structures, including your jaw, giving us a detailed view of the overall condition of your oral health. We have found that panoramic x-rays are perfect for adults and kids who can’t have intraoral (inside the mouth) x-rays taken.
