dental x-rays audubon nj

Digital X-Rays

Dental x-rays are a valuable diagnostic tool and an integral part of your treatment planning. They allow us to view the inside of your teeth in great detail so we can identify potential problems in their earliest stages.

One of the biggest concerns patients have about x-rays has always been radiation exposure. But the state-of-the-art digital x-rays used at Train Station Dental minimize your exposure by as much as 75 percent.

Patient education is another significant benefit of digital x-rays because we can easily view the high-resolution images together on a chairside monitor. This makes you part of the process because you can visualize for yourself what the problem is and how treatment will benefit you.

Since the images are digital, we can securely store them on our in-house network. This makes your x-rays readily available as needed by our doctors or to share with specialists or insurance companies when necessary.

Digital x-rays are safer for the environment than film x-rays because there’s no hazardous waste or chemicals to dispose of.

oral cancer screening audubon nj

Identafi Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer is aggressive, but early detection can increase survival rates to about 80 percent. Fortunately, most dental offices today perform visual screening for oral cancer as part of your routine exams.

At Train Station Dental, we go a step further by using Identafi oral cancer screening technology that looks for lesions in your mouth that may not be seen with a visual exam. Identafi uses fluorescence to discern whether these areas have new or abnormal tissue growth that may be cancerous or precancerous.

sedation dentistry audubon nj

Nitrous Oxide

One of the hallmarks of our practice is comfortable dentistry. Our doctors have decades of combined experience and have learned how to provide personalized, stress-free dentistry. Even so, you may prefer to drift away during your procedure, and that’s fine because we offer comforting nitrous oxide sedation.

Nitrous oxide is a gas that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small nasal mask. In a few moments, you will feel very calm and relaxed, and the activity and sounds around you will seem very far away. Many patients have little to no memory of the details of their procedure.

Since nitrous oxide sedation is mild, it’s safe to use for the duration of your procedure. But as soon as we stop administering the gas, the effects leave your system quickly. You will be able to drive yourself home and resume your usual daily routine. In fact, nitrous oxide is safe enough to use for children.

Rotary Endodontics

Aside from relieving severe pain, there isn’t much that people like about root canals. Unfortunately, a lot of the negativity is related to outdated ideas about what the procedure involves.

If it’s been a while since your last root canal, you should know that the procedure is now performed using state-of-the-art technology. Rotary endodontics eliminate a lot of the unpleasant aspects of treatment like the sounds and sensations. Rather than clearing away the infection with manual files and stainless steel instruments, we now use rotary endodontics.

Rotary endodontics are instruments that are electrically powered and have a flexible tip that allows your doctor to reach into curved root canals comfortably and efficiently. The result is more predictable outcomes and successful long-term results.

Panoramic X-Rays

If you’ve ever taken a panoramic image using your camera, you have a basic understanding of how a panoramic x-ray works. Rather than individual images, a panoramic dental x-ray produces a single image that captures your entire mouth.

Panoramic x-rays are extraoral, meaning they are taken outside your mouth. Your head is positioned using chin and forehead rests, and the machine moves around your head in a semi-circle.

While a panoramic x-ray lacks the detail to identify cavities, it does show cysts, fractures, impacted teeth, and bone abnormalities as well as infections and tumors. Panoramic images are also valuable for planning orthodontic treatment, dentures, and dental implants.

intraoral camera train station dental

Intraoral Camera

Did you ever sit for a dental exam and wonder what your dentist sees and how they detect problems? Well, now the mystery is solved because our state-of-the-art intraoral cameras allow you to see it all for yourself!

An intraoral camera is a small wand-like device that our doctors direct over your teeth during a routine exam. The camera transmits the images in real time to your chairside monitor so that you can see them clearly and your doctor can point out areas of concern.

Seeing the problem and understanding exactly why treatment is necessary makes you an active participant in your dental care. The more information you have, the better equipped you are to make confident treatment decisions.

Our DIAGNOdent Cavity Detector is a small handheld dental laser that's designed to detect cavities when they are still small and treatment is easy. Dental decay often occurs between teeth or in tiny grooves and spaces (especially in the molars), making early detection with traditional methods difficult.

Our doctors use DIAGNOdent to scan the surfaces of your teeth to detect small areas of decay. When a cavity is detected, DIAGNOdent lights up the area, making it easy to identify the problem. Detecting decay in its earliest stages results in less invasive treatment, less expensive treatment, and improved long-term outcomes.

Surgical Grade Air Purifier

As part of our continuous commitment to the health and safety of our patients and staff, a complete medical-grade air sterilization system has been installed at Train Station Dental. Six sterilization units work together to clean, purify, and sterilize the air in our office and operatories. Their multi-stage filtration technology captures particles of pollen, mold, dust, and other common allergens, as well as capturing airborne particles of chemicals, odors, bacteria, and viruses, including COVID, cold and flu.  Our purification system will filter out all impurities to the nearest 0.1 micron.  These units were installed to give our patients and staff additional confidence when they enter our office, knowing that we at Train Station Dental value and are committed to protecting their overall health and well-being.

3-D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

A lot has changed in dental offices in recent years, and one addition to our office that you may not be familiar with is 3-D cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT).

Whereas a digital x-ray creates a 2-D image, CBCT uses a cone-shaped x-ray beam to produce highly detailed 3-D images of your jaw that include your teeth, their roots, and other supporting structures.

Visualizing these details in 3-D is essential for our doctors when planning root canals, dental implant placement, and extractions to ensure a safe a procedure and the best possible long-term outcome.

Digital Records

Your dental history is invaluable, so we want to safeguard your information. At Train Station Dental, all your records are stored digitally on our secure in-house network. This makes them readily available for reference when planning treatment or to send to specialists or insurance companies.
